Our Mission
The Fearless Theater Company is comprised of young artists with and without disabilities. Company members, primarily ages 8-18, attend workshops in which they learn about all aspects of production, from writing to performing. They develop their own scripts by improvising scenes, often inspired by events from their own lives. Collaborating with professional writers and artists, they shape the material into finished works – live shows, musical theater, as well as television and radio projects.
The company collaborates with schools and organizations through-out the New York area, including New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts; Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Inc.; Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts; The Louis Armstrong School; and The Third Street Music School Settlement, in lower Manhattan.
Since 1994 The Fearless Theater Company has continued to encourage the artistic voice of young people, with and without disabilities, in theater, film, TV, and radio by:
- offering free workshops for disabled children ages 8-18
- partnering with NYC schools for Artist-In-Residence programs
- creating completely original works written by and about the lives of the disabled
- providing performance opportunities for youth with disabilities
- presenting family oriented programming
- spreading the message about discrimination, accessibility and prejudices
- developing writing and communication skills
